I am just saying that , at the present time, N. W. Europe is a more peaceful and safer/nicer place to live than many parts of the world outside Europe other than parts of N. America or Australia.
And yes different countries have different cultures & mentalities

You take yourself down to Central/South America with a nice bag of drugs, get yourself put in prison and as an "Anglo" you' d be very lucky to come out alive. Some of those prisons the guards shut the gates and the interior is run by gangs.
A few years ago there were stories of Brazilian police shooting street children for money at the behest of local business men.
Irish people South and now North don't realise how relatively peaceful and safe this island really is.

The two tribes of dopes up there have their best chance to in a century to finally live together in peace and concentrate on things like the economy, if they choose not to wreck their opportunity.

Keep on digging away in that hole because you don't have a fuckin clue! You're lucky you weren't born and grew up north of the border!

not the 70s or 80s....well you said "decades"...so what you now want to change that to try and fit it into your own failing argument. So how many recent decades do you want to change it to?

    wise up!

I had a Brazilian flatmate for over a year, and he and I talked about this. I'd also heard about this situation over 10 years ago, and yes, apparently it has/does happen(ed). My friend was extremely ashamed about this, so much so that he asked if we could change the subject mid-sentence, as it was something horrible that goes on in his country.

He confirmed what I'd heard before, which is that homeless street kids are occasionally 'culled' (exterminated) to prevent them from robbing local shops and harassing/pick-pocketing/scamming tourists. I can totally understand why he's so ashamed of this.

In Peru this has evolved to what are now known as 'Piranha gangs'. Kids that aren't even old enough to have pubic hair ... get enough of them together and you'd be surprised how quickly they can strip someone to the bone.

Shocking story,,,something that no one should have to go through.

Total intolerance for people who are different and unfortunately Brazil is not the only country things like this and worse happen,,,

We're lucky,,,not just because of where we live but also the times we live in,,,not so long ago things like this were happening here and only in the last 10-15 years has it become socially acceptable to be openly gay or transgender.

However ireland is not the tolerant and all accepting place we'd like to believe it is,,, some politicians have openly refused to canvas for the referendum on gay marriage in fear of public backlash,,, elected representatives afraid to even talk about the subject,,,can't be nice to be gay in these areas of ireland

Pictures show Veronica Bolina lying partially naked on the ground in front of a group of officers and other prisoners in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 25-year-old had previously been arrested over an alleged attack on her 73-year-old neighbour.
An official police statement claimed Bolina was attacked by prisoners when she was seen performing a sex act on herself in her cell and that officers were forced to intervene.
It added that the injuries were the result of a struggle in which, police claim, she bit an officer on the ear.

The photos of her badly swollen eyes and mouth have been widely shared on the internet with outraged supporters setting up campaign groups on the internet demanding the right for LGBT people to be treated fairly.
One supporter, Susane Montalvo Sarabia, said: 'It is just sickening that in this day and age such things as this still happen.
'They have pulverised that poor woman's face and are now trying to cover it up. Whether she is innocent, guilty, transgender or straight doesn't matter.
'The police should not be allowed to do this to anyone.'
Authorities in Sao Paulo say they are now investigating the matter.
A spokesman for the prosecutors office said she had been moved to a detention centre where she has an individual cell until the court case.

some prejudices are universal, I have just returned from Miami having visited a TS dear friend and lover of mine who is currently under investigation for 'defending' herself against an attack against her as a TS....she was beaten, shoulder broken and she was the one under investigation. While the charges have now been dropped (as I have just learned. ) as she was found to be in the 'right', the humiliation she endured was horrific. Times are changing but not quickly enough. xx support each other and stand up to those who would abuse their power. Lauren
