Ya when I started to read the Lord of The Rings , it took me 100 pages to get into it and then I could,nt put the books down !!!
Loved the film esp the Editors Editions but the book were way better.
Are the books like that for Game of Thrones ?

Some characters that have been killed in the books are still " alive " in the books ,not sure if HBO are going to go with those story lines

He has written 3 other books based on Westros called ,Tales of Dunk & Egg

Tales of Dunk and Egg is a series of fantasy novellas by George R. R. Martin, set in the world of his A Song of Ice and Fire novels. They follow the adventures of "Dunk" (the future commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall) and "Egg" (the future king Aegon V Targaryen), some 90 years before the events of the novels.

So that would make 10 novels in all

Three novellas have been published – The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003) and The Mystery Knight (2010) – and Martin has stated his intention to continue the series.
