I've heard that George RR Martin maybe doing 10 books in total.

One tiny spoiler though - as they seem to still be following the plot in this series Cersei will definitely get her comeuppance. Dance around the living room type stuff. I kissed the book
Ya when I started to read the Lord of The Rings , it took me 100 pages to get into it and then I could,nt put the books down !!!
Loved the film esp the Editors Editions but the book were way better.
Are the books like that for Game of Thrones ?

To the extent where the directors have killed off characters
In the series still alive in the books. So the series isn't strictly
    In line with the books.
Some characters that have been killed in the books are still " alive " in the books ,not sure if HBO are going to go with those story lines

He has written 3 other books based on Westros called ,Tales of Dunk & Egg

Tales of Dunk and Egg is a series of fantasy novellas by George R. R. Martin, set in the world of his A Song of Ice and Fire novels. They follow the adventures of "Dunk" (the future commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall) and "Egg" (the future king Aegon V Targaryen), some 90 years before the events of the novels.

So that would make 10 novels in all

Three novellas have been published – The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003) and The Mystery Knight (2010) – and Martin has stated his intention to continue the series.

I could hear her voice as I read that
Some people have to have the last word,
but they don't actually want you to stop talking,
as they like the sound of their own voices too much.
