Woman was the last thing God ever made.

Warfare is also a highly profitable business.

I couldn't possibly blame womankind for something as asinine and insidious as God. I'm aware that religion was around long before we invented the Abrahamic Godhead and that those early prototypes were mostly matriarchal affairs but it took the male of the species to create the maniacal megalomaniac that sits on the throne now.
Personally if I were to imagine a Godhead I'd imagine it as sexless. Kind of like he/she chose to make the angels by some accounts, even though they are ascribed gender qualities and indeed even mate with human females at one stage. Sons of God indeed.
I wonder did the Nephilim have willies?

The arch typical male is a power hungry, dominance, seeking egomaniac ,
and worse again if he was brought up as a "mammy's boy".
Religion reflects this.
Most of us are designed to respect some leader or other.
We probably couldn't have functioning societies otherwise.

Absolutely. It's in the nature of what we are and what we evolved from. Our hairy ancestors banded together in groups, elected leadership according to dominant aggressive traits, and treated anyone outside the group with anything ranging from suspicion to outright hostility. We were warring long before we discovered the shame of our own nakedness and we carried that behaviour across into the new societal 'glue' of religion.
I believe religion was very useful at an early stage in our evolution but think it's now outlived that usefulness and it's time for us to evolve again, as much as it may pain some people. We've got to start thinking more, and realise that we're just one of many steps on the road to something better.
A lot of people say the central and most important tenet of Christianity is the maxim 'Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself'. Strange that the majority of those people who believe this tend to be atheist, it's such an important point and one that is very pertinent to the whole peace on earth thingy.
Edit: The Golden Rule, that's what it's called.
