Most drunk drivers in Ireland are Irish and in the past many have gotten off on technicalities with the help of solicitors.
And in the dim and maybe not so distant past some may even have had the charge quashed by a friendly police sergeant/superintendent(even if not meant to be done. ).
Drink driving 4 times over the legal limit isn't a mistake, it's a series of events that would lead up to such a thing.
