Qualifying at the Japanese Grand Prix, at Suzuka
Seventeen-year-old Max Verstappen was an early pacesetter in first qualifying, but his Toro Rosso stopped because of a mechanical problem.
His car on the track, plus a mix-up over engine settings, meant Jensen Button dropped out in first qualifying.
Rossi, Stevens, Nasr and Ericsson also dropped out, leaving the last four places,
16) Button 17) Ericsson 18) Nasr 19) Stevens 20) Rossi
Fernando Alonso took a gamble on only making only one timed lap in second qualifying, and was only good enough for 11th, so was out at second qualifying.
He was joined by Hulkenberg, Sainz, Maldonado and Verstappen(Max Verstappen’s car unable to run after it stopped in first qualifying)
So,
11)Hulkenberg 12) Sainz 13) Maldonado 14) Alonso 15) Verstappen
Drama in final qualifying as Daniil Kvayt puts a wheel onto the grass and crashes into the barrier, wrecking his Red Bull. Nasty impact, but he is OK. This brings out the red flag.

Question, would Lewis Hamilton have got pole position if the red flag had not stopped final qualifying prematurely? Lewis Hamilton has never taken pole here.
Seems to be back to normal, with Mercedes with a clear speed advantage.

Good news.
The Honda's engine didn't die at the start or during the race
Fernando might be fired due his comments '' GP2 engine'' loved that one
Jason might find something better to do with his time, rather than driving a turtle and try to race.
Congrats to Lewis and Nico as well.

Max Verstappen has passed his road-car driving test on his 18th birthday.
He is Formula 1's youngest ever driver but Belgian-born Dutchman Max Verstappen was unable to drive a road car legally in either Belgium or the Netherlands.

There has been a big crash at the Russian GP final practice. Carlos Sainz's Toro Rosso has had a head-on at Turn 13 and car is buried deeply into the barriers, with the medical crew in attendance.
This has red-flagged the final practice and it will not be restarted.
