NEVER CLICK ON THINGS THAT POP UP ON THE INTERNET, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE A VIRUS OR NOT THEY JUST WANT YOU TO DOWNLOAD THERE MALWARE
Managed to get rid of it last night but it reappeared earlier today when an itunes and safari update failed to load . My norton subscription is nearly finished , should i unload it off my machine and buy new protection , and if so what do you guy recommend ? Many thanks again

once infected it is very hard to get rid of these bastards - especially in case of rootkits which can be hardly detected by normal security software.

safest way is to secure your most important private files - formattin your hard drive and reinstall your windows and being next time more careful what kind of kinky sites you're visiting.... ;-)

also an option would be to restore your windows to a point in the past before the problem occured (but formatting your drive and reinstalling remains the securest option)

I did restore windows to a previous point and the problem went away for about 12 hrs or so till an update failed , then the bastard came back .Tried restoring it again like before but the list of dates to choose my update has vanished and it keeps rebooting from todays date and not the 21st dec that i chose yesterday. You guys sure know a lot about computers , formatting my drive is like brain surgery to me at this moment . If its one thing i've learned from this virus , it's that i know even less than i thought i did about computers before it struck . My new yrs resolution is to get a computing guide for dummies and get up to speed on things asap .

    Mr Rimmer,

Pray tell me what computer it is that you have - a dell or apple........you didn't say - the thing is with dell if you have a problem with them they come to your home to fix all and any problems for you - if they cannot repair it they replace it with a new one - would suggest that you go for that the next time.

I am buying a new for soon but not sure how to save all the work on it disc wise so my friend that works in IT is coming over to help me with this.........you know people - some people, are very kind and helpful when it comes to these sorts of problems - I did also hear that about moving the date to when it became a problem before....... guessing you have tried clearing the cookies etc., removing stuff that is redundant on your computer - did you get rid of your Norton yet and install the AVG thats brilliant takes minutes to install too.

    Best of luck........ xxx Lizzy

P.S. The last thing that i can suggest is that if you see some kids coming home from school you ask one of them to take a look - betting a kid could sort this out for you quicker than anyone..........damn these school children - its so unfair. xxx

Oops you may find that P.C. World is big time on selling Bleedin Norton havent you ever seen their adds......... Just go to AVG google it and bobs your uncle you download for free - its so simple I did it by myself - although getting Norton off is easy too you just call them and go through the removal of it .......

Bleedin Ell if i can do this so can you, thing is that you can't believe a bird could do this stuff do you........well we can and do........ I made my Website by myself so i do know this sort of stuff........Not as dumb as i seem huh!!?? Well you boys like to think that you are cleverer than us so we just let you think that, we're good like that......

Bon Chance to you its so easy really but as for the other stuff go and get P.C. World or any of the shops that have a section for help to take a look, you may have to leave the computer with them, therein lies the difference between most of the other computers and Dell, they will come to your home and fix it........XXX Lizzy

LOL sorry to burst your bubble but AVG is like putting on a rubber with a whole in it!! (you think your protected but your not really) main reason it's popular is because it's free and the college kids love free stuff especially if it's open source.
Rimmer, if you go into PC world they also sell kaspersky, chances are if you don't get a nob the assistant will recomend it also, but beware they do have Norton at half price, don't give into the temptation buy kaspersky and not a wholey condom LOL

    Exclamation try either of these.....

i use Sophos and find it very good - it picks up on all spyware etc but my sister uses kasperskyand so does the all government depts. so it has to be good!!

most of the boffins would recommend either of these so you have your choice - just go do it!!!
