Have you ever known of a Garda that won`t go for the easy option when it comes to filling his quota.

[QUOTE=xcitedcork;1516487]No, not based on the garda only being of the belief that you were in an appartment that may or may not have a person within it that may or may not be a prostitute. The garda could not have reasonable grounds if they didnt even know who you met with.It will come down to what answers you give.
The guards are watching rachel......who did you just meet, oh my friend sharon! the guard could not have any reasonable grounds as he cant know if you even met the same person.
Worth noting also that this is not in the new piece of legislation and has always been there, dont recall it ever being used or stated in the press, do you?[/QUOTE

    Garda.
"Which apartment does your friend Sharon live in sir, because we will be checking"
    " You don`t remember sir" ?
What do you imagine his next move will be ?

Unfortunately there is little or no chance of an election before this law is passed

Well, if you google escorts Sweden, you'll see the professions still thriving and everyone's still going about there business as usual. Seems the law is very hard to enforce. Besides standing in the street with a phone to your ear isn't a crime - take a walk through Dublin City centre and you'll see most people these days have a phone to their ear. Most of the buildings I've entered have been so busy that no one's ever noticed what you have to you ear. So in big city blocks, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Many people seem to want to ignore the fact that this new bill is 100 pages long and the piece on punters is two paragraphs, this bill is not about punters it unfortunately though does contain an extremely small piece that fucks us up.

Absolutely nothing as he cannot have any reasonable view about your activities, you dont even have to answer any of his detailed questions i

As to your other points. How many punters do you belive will not give a toss about their details being published in a paragraph in their local paper for a court appearance under a charge of purchasing sex ?
    Very few I`d imagine.
As to "why now would they target punters". Well, the government are bring forward a law aimed specifically aimed at punters.
With the time and effort that has gone into this new law, plus the establihment of a garda unit part of who`s remit is to enforce this new law, I`d be very wary that their is not a determination to enforce it.
Im not setting out an argument on how to deal with being stopped and asked questions, im simply giving advice which is say nothing, i have stated legal fact on what the situation is with regard his line of questioning, you on the other hand have offered fear, let me know how that goes for you.
My view on press is in response to you assertion that the gardai will target punters to get headlines to increase budgets and i see you now agree that it will be mainly local press that will print names so dont see much of an increase in budget there.
Time and effort in new law? have you even read it, its about 30 lines, a huge effort. And yet again for the record the piece on punters is only an addition, insert into current law
New garda department? yes to look after absolutely everthing from kiddy porn to serious sex offenders

If Garda are observing a premises, standing with the phone to your ear at the main entrance is the most likely to get their attention.
100% agree with you here, why bring unnecessary attention, info like codes should be texted in advance, many issues come from complaints from neighbours and building managers who witness these calls and who may phone the gardai

Meh... a slightly more expensive punting phone and a bluetooth headset solves that problem.
