I would actually say in one thing which it has been designed to do i.e. marginalize sex workers, it has been very effective!
Also it raises easy fines for The Swedish Government!
It must have also been understood from the outset that it would be a boon also to psychotic clients, nasty pimps and traffickers and make life hell on earth for female sex workers! Certainly, the Irish law makers have been told this will be an inevitable and very direct consequence of the Irish version and don't give a shite!
The Irish one will also be a nice little revenue earner for some gobshite NGOs who are supporting it to the hilt for that very reason! Mind you some of those in certain NGOs will also take an obscene perverse pleasure in seeing sex workers and men suffer, don't forget some of them are radical feminists who believe women having sex with men are traitors while others are religious loons and would like to see all extramarital sex made a crime!
One group in Ireland who will inevitably suffer disproportionately under it are working class male clients of female sex workers as there is not a chance in hell any of the 'great and the good' will ever be prosecuted under it (indeed there's more of a chance of the D4 set etc. being pulled under the upcoming insane errant cycling laws than this piece of legislation!)!
Of course sex workers here will suffer by far the worst under this insane legislation!
