Is the brown envelope still around?

When I worked in London it was pretty much standard to receive the cash in an envelope and a white one, not brown (or manilla if we want to be accurate ) Over here it is hit and miss.

I always recycle envelopes and never throw them in the bin unused. They can be handy for putting aside cash for the bank or using to post a letter back home

Personally I don't really see the point of the envelope thing.
I mean where does it say that giving a lady her donation in an envelope
as opposed to handing the donation to her straight, is a sigh of respect??
I usually hand it to her of leave it on the table for her to see.
Besides, doesn't a closed envelope leave the lady with a bit of a conundrum.

I prefer to use an envelope. It's not much hassle to buy a pack of envelopes and they last a while.

As an occasional punter I have to ask is it normal to use envelopes or do most guys just hand over the cash?

I always use envelopes. If the girls don't think I have a trustworthy face, they run out the room to check it
