Envelopes are not important, its what in them that is
When I worked in London it was pretty much standard to receive the cash in an envelope and a white one, not brown (or manilla if we want to be accurate ) Over here it is hit and miss.
I always recycle envelopes and never throw them in the bin unused. They can be handy for putting aside cash for the bank or using to post a letter back home

Personally I don't really see the point of the envelope thing.
I mean where does it say that giving a lady her donation in an envelope
as opposed to handing the donation to her straight, is a sigh of respect??
I usually hand it to her of leave it on the table for her to see.
Besides, doesn't a closed envelope leave the lady with a bit of a conundrum.
'Do I trust my client and not check, or do I open it in front of him and show him
I don't trust him???'
IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, TRY AND TRY.......AH F**K IT, I GIVE UP
Best to check while they are in the shower, so if there is a discrepancy it can be challenged before the nookie. This can work with over payments too by the way. Always best to check that it is intended, as no one wants to lose a good reliable client by taking extra that was not intended.

Quality white or light coloured envelopes only. It's a gift - not a payment.
Brown envelopes are for a completely different type of transaction.
For everything legal use electronic payment.
