Also, lets face it - the country is bankrupt, completely and totally. The Irish taxpayer can't afford for the Guards to put too much resources into it, there are far more worthwhile crimes for them to be giving time to. The better thing would be legalizing prostitution not only morally but financially too, it's worth nearly €6bn to the German government as it stands now for instance.

Related, I notice this site has sister sites in both Sweden and Norway where a similar law has been around for quite some time. Not as many girls on those sites mind you, but it seems punting is alive and well there too.

The don't have to police it much all they need is a few arrests, naming and shaming in the papers and it will put the fear of God into a lot of men....it's going to be daunting leaving appointments when the law it come in,and anyone thinking otherwise is just kidding themselves.

I've actually spoken to PCNI and people in " higher places" and they have said its going to be very hard to police, they can't afford the staff and resources now, when June gets here they will make enquires if neighbours complain but other than that they don't have the man power.

For a lot of people a criminal conviction will mean losing their job, and how many will risk that happening to them. And when it comes to proving the case in court, I'm sure that if a Guard says that you were visiting an escort the judge will accept that as gospel, unless you can prove otherwise.
In short, it's going to be a bit of a circus.

Well they would say that...there hardly going to telegraph that there going to start enforcing it....they want to catch people...
Its easy for escorts to that this flippant attitude toward the new law,at the end of the day you can go and work some other country while the poor fuckers who are unlucky enough to be arrested have a pretty bleak future job wise and also the social stigma that goes along with it.

Your correct about judges siding with Gardaí evidence, the problem is once it get to court whether you win your case or not the story can be published in the newspapers....and you know Irish people...no smoke without fire brigade

I know well. In fact a court conviction would be just a legal formality.
