Actually, i think it would be a very close thing if a hypothetical vote was taken. After all ,there is a reason why TORL haven't ever PUBLICLY commissioned a poll on the issue - I suspect privately that they have polled but wasn't quite satisfactory . It would be a clear statement endorsing their campaign if they could say 70% , 75%, 80% etc favour criminalisation..
In the North , a poll was commissioned which found 80% favoured criminalisation . But unsurprisingly, the question was pre-empted that prostitution was the number one cause for sex trafficking - implying that criminalisation was the key to stop trafficking , thus garnering majority support.
If the same question was framed as ' criminalisation has failed to arrest trafficking in Sweden and has detrimental consequences for people in prostitution, ' , do you favour sucah an approach , then the poll would have shown a different response.
Needless to say ,the independence of the pollsters in question , and indeed the options presented to the public would result in different tallies.
e.g. a poll that queries a binary yes/no criminalisation question would result in a much higher 'No' vote than a multiple choice poll that asked should prostitution be (a) decriminalised (b)legalised and regulated (c) criminalisation of purchaser (d) criminalisation of both sellers and buyers.
In the latter poll, the aggregate of (a) and (b) would certainly rival (c) and (d).
Most males favour a rights based approach.A strong minority of females favour same.In a level playing field poll, it would be very close . Needless to say , you-know-who would ensure that a level playing field would be obstructed.....

I honestly don't think it would be a 'straying' issue for most females - more a case of 'prostitution degrades women' and so the message being more important thant the consequences of the law.
I remember an article in Irish Tatler afew months back where 3/10 women polled would consider having sex for money.
For politicians, its an open goal issue - a chance to pontificate on a complex issue - takes genuine cojones for a politician to stand up and say 'hold on a minute , this emperor has no clothes'
In other words, the same politicians who will condemn the State of yesteryear for turning a blind eye to theChurch/religious organs' abuse will happily turn a blind eye to the abuse and failure of the Swedish model ...because they've been lobbied to do so.
Long term , the upcoming ,inevitable laws will be struck down either here by the Supreme Court or further afield in Europe.
Irish politicians almost ineviatbly bow to lobby groups - in this case , TORL are powerful with little real lobbying power by their pro- sex work opponents . As such , we're lucky to have a court system generally independent from the political system.

I could be wrong and I don't want to generalise, but I would have thought that a sure sign of an escort who has been trafficked would be:
1: Don't allow reviews
2: Don't have verified pics
3: Are moved from town to town all around Ireland on a weekly basis
4: Their reviews say things like - she didn't speak any English - didn't show any interest - service was very rushed
Maybe EI chould have some kind of vetting process when these girls renew their advert. Or come up with some way to keep an eye out for these girls

(a) i would say working for an agency. not necessarily trafficked. trafficked is an emotive term an doesnt define willingly or unwillingly so id avoid using it. also ive no particular problem with agencies either. ive dealt with some in london where the escorts speak very highly of them but some in ireland have a very checkered past an for me they tarnish there reputation here.
(b) id guess a bundle of these profiles might have advertising paid at same time by same payment source. but ei is a busiiness and wud probably not turn away business like that even if they may make the right noises here. thats how all business works.end of the day it is down to clients to be responsible in there choices.
