Here is the link to the podcast for today's programme:

    http://www.rte.ie/radio1/today-with-...urke/podcasts/

It's 25 minutes long and well worth a listen.

The client today was an actual 40 year old virgin and spoke well I thought (though the disguised voice takes a bit of getting used to).

Fair play to Sean O'Rourke for letting Kate McGrew put several important points across. Be prepared to laugh out loud at Geraldine from Ruhama's 'school curriculum' comment at 18 minutes. Has to be a contender for the lamest prohibition excuse in what is a crowded field.

Listened to the section of the programme today. In my opinion I thought that the client spoke very well. Articulated his points very well. The voice distortion made him sound like me. Well done to him.
Kate spoke very well also. Was clear, concise and knew exactly what she wanted to say. The other 2 ladies were just banging the same drum that we have all heard so many times.
I thought it was good that clients were represented in a positive manner rather than the usual scum of the earth viewpoint.

  12. Thumbs up

I heard the first 2/3 of it this morning, I'll listen to the rest of it later. I'm glad that they let the client speak, and that he made his points well. The interviewer only slipped back into stereotypical language towards the end.

I thought Kate did great, though I'd have liked to hear a bit less of the "polite American" and a bit more of the feisty. And I really wish someone would go on the air or telly and give it to Ruhama with both barrels. I'd really love to tear someone tear into them and point out the links from Ruhama back to the Magdalene Laundries, someone to rubbish the discredited "research" they keep quoting, the amount of money they get from the State and the fact that they need that funding to continue or they'd have to find real jobs.

Someone like Laura Lee would be great. I'd like to see them try out the "buying a woman's body" line on her. We can only wait in hope.

I would say the two clients came across well, but people will agrue they are justifing a means to an end.
Ultimately it comes down to whether or not a person thinks it needs justification.
