This is along way from being the finished law yet and could end up being even worse in certain respects than it is at the moment!
Is there anything about putting punters on the sex offenders list?
Will being fined on the spot by a pig have the same legal effect as being pulled for public urination - probably no huge consequence in that case?
Also remember prostitution related offences are regarded by American Visa Authorities as bad!
But I still cannot understand how it can be constitutionally valid to have a law which makes the purchaser of a legally saleable service a criminal? It's just not legally possible!

As far as i can see there is no provision in the bill for on the spot fines, its either a class E (500e max) or class D(1000e max) fine. In that case u will have to go to court and appear before a judge as he/she will have to use their discression when applying the fine.
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed

Hmmm...there are a lot of reservations in the Oireachtas about this law, unfortunately probably not enough to block it, but that they won't be putting in a lot of the recommendations from the Justice Committee. It's simply not feasible to police it. Also Frances Fitzgerald herself admitted on Drivetime that it will be very difficult to police. The Norwegian Government's Inquiry into the law saw that the Swedish police was using a quarter of its trafficking budget to police this law. I imagine this would really piss off people in this country, especially as they're considering doing a mid year budget to introduce more cuts.

As for even visiting an established lady, most clients will be on edge for obvious reasons, at the end of the day its the client that will pay not the Escort if he is unlucky enough to be caught. That's the reality of it.
Oh no of course, pardon me. I forgot we just lose our place of work if we are discovered and possibly deposits etc, etc and possible media exposure too. We have nothing to lose. Silly me for making so light of the situation.

If they are forcing people to attend court then I would imagine it to be a lot less likely that anyone will plead guilty. It will be interesting to see how that goes.

Be in no doubt under these insane laws, sex workers suffer by far the worst! That's a well known consequence by its promoters. some of whom will absolutely love that aspect of it!

That's not what I meant, This new bill targets solely the client, Of course it has a knock on effect on escorts too and I don't care about paying the fine that doesn't worry me so much, Its being prosecuted/exposed if I was unlucky enough to be caught.
Maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves here so better to wait to see what way it will pan out.

Also from what I know about people who attend court - a lot of the cases get thrown out because the Gardai never turns up.

And I can see sex holidays becoming quite popular with the men folk around here
