But how will sex workers become more vulnerable? Please hear me out. I have seen lots of escorts and never been asked for a reference. Before you say that they check my number on Ugly Mugs, that's not true, as I've had about 10 different numbers over the last 2-3 years (ditch my punting sim after my credit runs out). So in that time at least 10 escorts have taken the leap of faith to trust that I wasn't a bad person from my tone on the phone and watching me walking around with my head up my arse outside an apartment building. I am guessing these same escorts would do the same when the new law comes in to place too.
My point is that escorts already see and deal with bad people, we read about it in the press all the time, that's why they put security procedures in place for their own safety. Now why will escorts feel the need to suddenly decide to buck their usual plans and go welcome someone they don't feel safe into their accommodation?
The vast majority of escorts in Ireland seem to be touring for a small while, so surely they will just tour some where where it is easier to make a few quid.
My final question would be, have we seen any stats on violence against escorts in Sweden or other countries where these draconian measures have come in to place?
Yes, run for a seat in the Dáil or Seanad. The only way to change something like this is to get as many like minded people that don't mind sticking up for escorts to get elected.
And now we have a price thread
What will happen is ...
(1)there will be no appointments via pm
(2)there will be no reviews anymore (Ive already stopped for other reasons)
(3)the site (other than what goes on publically in the forum....and that will change somewhat too) will be a reference mainly for gathering phone numbers of ladies and seeing who is available and where.....no change you might think....but the guys booking when they phone, will be doing it from numbers that are not able to be used as a reference to how their previous appointments went with other ladies.....so its less clear who is booking and what their history is like
Like I said before, regular ladies with regular clients will work through it easy enough but new ladies or the ladies who tend to stay away from the forums will not be so sure about who might be booking.
The time and companionship thing will still work to degree but guys will be 100% sure about what ladies they trust to operate discreetly enough so as to not bring on Garda attention when there are undoubtedly publicised raids to make it look like the police actually give a fu@k

Here are some reasons:
- When something is illegal, it creates a lucrative black market for criminals
- It promotes the stigma that sex workers are the dregs of society and reinforces hate crime towards them
- It will be more difficult for sex workers to 'vet' their clients due to clients constantly changing their details and phone numbers to avoid getting caught
- Known sex work locations will be constantly monitored by police who will be hounding their [escort's] clients, which in turn, will have an adverse impact on their livelihood

There is already a lucraticve black market surrounding prostitution in Ireland, we have pimps, traffickers and no doubt other elements involved.
Seeing as that the sex workers will now be doing no wrong it will be us punters that will be the dregs of society.
It will be the exact same for sex workers to vet their clients. As I said previously I already change my sim once the credit runs out and no escort has ever refused my business.
Granted your last point is valid, but the Garda don't have the resources to constantly monitor known locations.

The market will become MORE lucrative. Lord Morrow said it himself; "People with regard for the law will stop paying prostitutes for sex." Who does that leave? The criminals.
Yes, you change your SIM, but not everybody does, and fair enough if you have been lucky, but once the law comes into force, sex workers will be more wary and you may struggle in the future. I really don't want to discuss this too much as it is to do with privacy, so I will leave that point there.
From the things we have heard from escorts working in places like Norway and Sweden, the police are equally as bad as the rest of society for the stigma towards sex workers. In fact, sex workers are less likely to report crime because when they do, the police then start quizzing them about their other clients that are not dangerous.
I agree, overall, the Gardai won't have the resources, but to justify the new law, we will probably see them initially turn their focus to 'hunting' criminals to increase their arrest statistics and make an example of people.

At least we now know what we're dealing with and we can lobby to have it changed as it will be a complete waste of time and a retrograde step backwards for all!!!
