We don't know the full story and as always the papers don't always tell it as it is. There was an Irish guy prosecuted sometime back for the same but didn't hear any further details on how it went.

There was one time I got asked to leave a Hotel by the Garda when I was meeting an escort there.
One Garda (female) in particular really had a go at the escort, and to be fair, the escort gave as good as she got.
What she (the Garda) was complaining about was that she was a foreigner and not that she was an escort. It got so bad that one of her colleagues had to subtly suggest that she tone down her language.

I said it "tends to be racialised", especially as the article points out it was foreign girls using the apartments.

And again, the other woman was from Brazil like Kate has pointed out. The gardai can also threaten deportation of the woman if they didn't admit to the offences.

Whenever raids happen they tend to go foreign girls.

They don't need evidence. Just renting an apt with or without knowing is an offence.
Although they didn't charge him with that.

As far as I know, it is illegal to knowingly let a property out for the purposes of prostitution. That's what they would have got him on.
