God and the promise of a next life are like the lotto...for people who live in hope instead of the moment!

No*. And that's despite my ancestors having been ministers of religion.
Christian faith:
Believe in God
Be nice to your brother
Islam:
Believe in God
Pray to him five times a day
Give alms to the poor (if you can afford it, and it doesn't injure your family)
Keep the fast of Ramadan
Go on the pilgrimage to Mecca (if you can afford it, and it doesn't injure your family)
Jews:
(something similar, but I can't find it boiled down to precepts.)
Apart from the belief bit, the other precepts are civilised.
And much of what we receive today has been devised by theologians; they are almost always male, and almost always have a very dim view of women.
* So I'm a sort of Christian or Islamic atheist if that makes sense.
I am catholic I am not sure if I believe in god.

I don't believe in the supernatural- ghosts/zombies/faryies/Santa Clause/God
I don't think that we need religion to have values, but society does need values to function. I'm not sure what morals are, they always seem to be about sex and pious people trying to control others.
It used to be that if there was a debate about religion and someone said "there's no proof that god exists", the standard answer was "you can't prove that God doesn't exist, and thats all that's necessary". But now I think that there is proof that god doesn't exist, because, there is no way that God would have allowed his representatives on earth to have raped and abused the innocent and to have accumulated vast wealth whilst others were in need .

Think of every living animal that has ever existed, every fish, no matter how big or small, do they all have a spirit? It's far fetched as far as I'm concerned.
