I watched a NatGeo / Discovery program not too long ago on the history of elevators (yeah , lol , I knoooow ) ;

supposedly the only button in an elevator that has no true function is the 'close door' button.

: Supposedly it's there only to make you feel good , make you feel like you're in control.

I don't buy it lol

I never realised there was a close button!!
I just press the floor number and that's all!!

And every new person who comes along also pressed the pedestrian crossing button a dozen times, on both sides of the road!!

It works, sorta like the road sensors for cars near junctions, the less traffic, the longer you will wait. reversing over the line while you wait is the only sure way to get the lights for you on a quiet road

I know, I know.....but some of those cyclists are very fast, they scare me!!!!

I think you'll find that it's the button that I pressed that controls the little green man and everyone else is just wasting their time!!!
