Myths only become belief when they are perpetuated. When are people going to accept that objecting to people's behaviour does not equal racism? The linked article states that nine people from the same family are up on various criminal charges. I'm all for economic migration but let's not take the piss, this isn't that.

i agree that behaviour is important and not racist. 200 outside their house, can you imagine it?
these people were a Nomadic tribe with their own traditions-lovely. then as Romania modernised, some
people pushed gypsy life out and forced them into crime/blamed for crime. a similar scenario has happened with the Traveller
community closer to home. you got to keep giving people a chance or their teenagers have no incentive to
rise above sterotyping.

Giving someone a house, free utilities and welfare is giving someone a chance in my book. Funny how for some it just means a chance to prey on the local population who so kindly paid taxes for that.

Well, seeing as they are at home doing nothing..... I'm still asking the question.

I have a problem with anyone idle and claiming social welfare... but more to the point I have a problem with people who travel to do so and only appear to beg and play shite music on my local main street

I once had to sit at home doing nothing and drawing the dole. So many of my family and friends at the same time were forced to seek work abroad - I was lucky. I stayed and since then I've - also luckily - managed to create a large number of jobs. We Irish are the great emigrants of the world and we've brought so much good to every corner of the world as a result . Initially though most societies treated the Irish as scum who were idle and untrustworthy and the perpetrators of criminal acts. Now we are famed in all corners of the world for our literature, music, good humour and yes.....our industriousness!

Given time our new immigrants will help create a better society as indeed they've already done. Look at the rich growth of diversity in Irish society in recent times. Sadly, though it appears every society needs a sub-class. Ask the Travellers!

By the way, there was absolutely no crime in Waterford before these few immigrants arrived!!!!

Strangely the crime statistics doesn't support the thesis of those protesting - outside a single family's house. Power to the mob!

Questions can be asked of all sections of our society. Can anyone argue that it is worthwhile to march on a family home in Waterford where no protest ever raised a peep against the actions of our banking fraternity?

Is it only Roma who are unwelcome immigrants? The vast majority of our escorts come from abroad and have been made welcome here. But if it were known to their neighbours that they were sex workers would they too be subject to the baying mob?
