My understanding is that Feminists up there were opposed to it as what The DUP wants is not usually good for women!
Also The National Union Of Students In Northern Ireland opposed it, AFAIK!
BTW in The Republic, they wouldn't get away with that one - alone in a room with a known sex worker = punter, as previously the concept of 'Common prostitute' was tahnkfully thrown out as unconstitutional - so there's one avenue, they can't legally go down!

The video on this mispolicing also shows up that these laws are actually about making sex workers suffer - a punter gets an embarrassing slap on the wrist fine, a woman who appears to be trafficked or nastily pimped (from client tip off) gets continuously raped! Horrific Stuff!
Here, In fairness, for all their obvious faults the guards would act to protect the woman in a situation like this as a matter of primary concern and they would be absolutely correct!

I don't believe so, the wording of the bill will have to have the imprimatur of the British legislature. I still can't see how it could be implemented against the odd punter or independent..
If Morrow is to be believed this is supposed to be about trafficking and dealing with the the criminal underworld.. If that's the message the police get we'll be fine.. But having dealt with these politicos in the past the agenda will be a puritanical onslaught for a little while and then calm down..imho..

these threads are only going up because these guys want someone to come along and say they will be fine. To make them feel ok. If these laws come in then the risk will be greater because they are already taking a risk anyway ,its only half of them are too stupid to know the difference.

    youll be fine lads,

Just going through the forum here and there's so much concern about the possibility of ROI following suit with the new legislation in the North. Maybe I'm missing something but I can only see this being enforced with street prostitution - how on earth can it be proved that a guy in a hotel room has paid a girl? Unless a policeman is actually there and sees money being handed over how can they disprove 'oh she's my fb {fuck buddy - technically true} or we are having an affair etc? Unless someone has tipped police off about a working girl why would they even bother trying to find guys going into hotels? I just dont see what the panic is. I dunno alll the threads about it has me thinking maybe I should be worried but Im not in the least! If you were to worry about all the things that might happen you'd never step outside the door!!
It will be very simple for them to prove that a guy in a hotel room has oppered money for sex. They will do what they did in Limerick some time ago with street prostitution, but instead of having the female garda pose as a street pro, they set her up in an apartment or hotel. Next stop court, a fine, (which will, as far as the state is concerned, make the operation very cost effective), and named in the local papers.
I`m afraid, if you`ll excuse the pun, the game is up.

Yep. Something that is as old as mankind itself and has never been able to be erased anywhere else, will be obliterated here in Ireland.

No way of knowing what will happen until (or if) it does happen, but I suspect the new laws will be a nuisance at worst, especally for the uncautious and unwary.
