I'm not an expert either but I think if gardai know a sex worker is working in a particular place and observes someone entering that location and staying a period of time without persuavive evidence of them being there for a legitimate reason, that is enough evidence to arrest someone on suspicion. Gardai don't need to have 100% incontrovertible evidence to make an arrest.


Proving what actually happened inside an appartment may be the difficult part........ assuming time and companionship is not made illegal too.

The problem for a lot of punters will be the threat of publicity, through a court case or even the media, to avoid this a lot will, if given the option, pay a fine instead.

If you get caught once and end up paying a fine for €500 .... € 1000 who knows how much, how likely are you to take the risk of being caught a second time.

One way that would reduce the possibilty of being caught, if the new law does get sanctioned fully, is to be more careful about the ladies you visit. Find a few regulars that you can trust, and they can trust you, and put a system in place to keep the arrangement casual & discrete.

I reckon the police will, initially, target the less discrete, be they escorts or clients. If TV3 can find agency girls/pimps, then I'm sure the police can do likewise. It's the trafficked girls that this law is really aimed at.

such property will include cash and phones of both the escort and punter methinks
