Paying for a massage is illegal? They have no grounds to arrest you unless they have proof. This isn't eastenders.

here is a good, detailed article about the filings of the Swedish model - seems the police often use scare tactics and fear of social shaming to get a confession from some meek punter. they don't actually prove that paid punting took place - so if one was prepared to fight a bit , it wouldn't work. certainly wouldn't work in the States where the police might get sued for harassment or wrongful arrest

For once I will keep out of this. It seems is easy for my to think but others are very good at taking sides in arguments on the forum but on an important matter as this one they come up with nothing or only silly posts ... Ahhh can't be arsed anymore ..

This may be true for useful laws but I have seen really stupid laws being passed much quicker than that — I could be wrong but the way things are going at the moment any law involving sex workers will probably be a stupid, ill thought out law and could be passed very quickly!

And if rushed it will be vastly more open to challenge! If passed on the lines of the insane Committee proposals of last year, it would give us the most vicious, cruel and obscene and insane anti sex worker laws apart from those countries which actively execute sex workers! But you could drive a huge jeep through it in terms of it being in conflict with the constitution!
It (if based on those mad proposals) would actually be the most repressive law aside from some anti terrorist legislation on any issue passed by a Western Democracy! Making us a complete international laughing stock!
The only worse law I can think of passed in my lifetime was that equating a woman's life in value terms to that of a foetus, which of course was passed here and which would have been sponsored by half the supporters of this proposed insanity and detested by the other half! And look how that turned out! And at least one woman that we know of has died as a consequence of that insanity and quelle surprise absolutely no other country has followed our mad example! And in many respects it has had the opposite of the intended effect!

If the "escort" is a garda, then her evidence that you solicited her for sex, as happened recently in Limerick, will be enough to ensure you are convicted in court, fined and your name and address published.
I know it`s only reasonable that the escorts will play down the potential of the proposed new law, it`s their livelihood that is in danger, but the punters need to inform themselves as to what this new law will mean for them.
