I really think the lady is not for turning and with the issue being so sensitive i cant see anybody going to take her on politically, so once she has her mind made up and legislation is drafted i think it will in all probability become law
    done deal?

yesterday when she said that in any illegal activity and she used the drug trade as an example that u target the purchaser to
reduce demand and then went on to say that she could see no reason why prostitution shouldnt be approached in the same manner.
In political terms the way she spoke was as clear an endorsement for criminalisation of the purchaser as u are going to get.
The only real hope is that she would not be in goverment long enough to get the ball rolling but i think that unlikely as i think
this goverment is over the hump and will go full term (18 more months or so).
It will be enough if she gets the legislation in motion as whom ever will replace her will find it a win win politcaly to follow
    through with it.
So lads better get used to it this is going to happen sooner or later

that's a well policed area, effective policy? TV licence would have been a better example. the purchasers and suppliers of each drug have been equally persued? still here.

Having a law on the statute books and the policing or success of that law are two completly different issues.
I have no doubt that it will be almost impossible to police any new law effectively but that will be no comfort
to the people that will be arrested and prosecuted under it. Dont have any doubt that now and again we will
have campaings to justify it, now i realise the odds of getting caught will be small but i reiterate that will be
cold comfort to someone who may find their life ruined by a prosecution.
It will just increase the risk in this hobby or pursuit and im sure some wont be prepared to take the risk while
others will probably review how they operate and be more conservative in choosing girls etc and more will
    just carry on regardless.
It will also be intresting to see if the girls will change how they operate and will get even more wary etc and
    may use even greater vetting
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed

Look lads it's the Irish way - talk around the subject for ages and do the cheapest most effective solution - they don't care about the girls or the clients- by bringing in the law they want to scare away the average punter and thus decimate the industry in Ireland - simple - probably will invest enough resources to doa few prosecutions ! That is it! And it will work to a degree foe awhile anyway

To compare this to the war on drugs is a bit strange. Apart from the losing battle with drugs even with the current laws should the cops raid an apartment where two people are present and there is an amount of drugs found with cash the cops have some form of proof that than an illegal activity is taking place.

Should the same cops raid an apartment where a man and woman are having sex and both parties are found to have cash in their clothing, which they are not wearing, I can't see where they are going to find the same level of proof of an illegal activity?

As it is we punters only pay for the time and companionship of these ladies.

It all comes down to how services are advertised in many ways. I was a party a while back in a private residence where alcohol was being sold. The cops turned up, nothing to do with the party. They got the idea drink may have been sold and told the person who's house it was that the bar man should "rent" the glasses - there was no law against that!
