Under the current law it is NOT illegal for a client to visit an Escort. It is not illegal for a client to visit a brothel.

It is illegal to have sex with a girl under the age of 18 or a girl that is proven to be trafficked.

It is not illegal for an escort to work alone. It can be illegal for two or more escorts to work the same premises as the premises could be deemed a brothel and one, or the other, may be prosecuted for running a brother and seen to be profiting from the proceeds of prostitution.

When it comes to prostitution in Ireland the ONLY thing that is illegal is profiting from the gains of prostitution. A girl could legally work in a brothel so long as she can prove she is not profiting from the gains of others. It is illegal for a person to get financial return for helping an escort or taking a share of her earnings in return for some assistance or service. The illegality really boils down to others, rather than the escort herself, making money from her escorting.
