Default New Legislation Criminalising Purchase of Sex

I hear agin Frances Fitzgerald talking about instituting legislation that makes it a criminal offence for (mostly) men buying the services of escorts. Mooted are a 1,000 fine for first offence. Minister Fitzgerald is watching what is happening in Scandanavia where this model exists

So question. Will this put men off dealing with the amazing ladies on this site?

    Me? No.

No Francis Fitzgerald is not looking at this it's a committee of the Parliament but the parliament having thoughts about this is dangerous enough

id say if your reputation and money is at stake you may think twice. Having said that, to think that the legislation would destroy the whole prostitute business is redundant. What will happen is it will go into the murky underworld. Despite the criminalization of hard drugs, the streets are still full of them. where there is a demand, supply will be provided

To be honest, the powers that be up on the hill here in Belfast, are talking about bringing in the same thing.

Just happens to be (primarily) the old bible bashers (no offence intended) who evidently aren't getting any action at home, and who still think sex is a dirty, disgusting act. I love it when they're reminded that if it hadn't been for their parents having sex, they wouldn't be here!!

Anyway, I'm sure that we are all careful, and watch for the signs of sex trafficking. If I saw anything suspicious, I would run a mile. In order to put a stop to trafficking, their plan is to penalise clients for paying for the 'time and companionship' of a beautiful lady.

I don't know much about it, but why don't they look at the Australian models (regarding legalisation of the sale of sex). That seems to work alright - the Government get the tax, and the girls are protected better as they are not forced underground.

Enforcing a ban here will have the opposite effect. Escorts will be driven underground, and the opportunities for trafficking will skyrocket!

Unfortunately, in the event that a law such as this was passed here, I would probably stop visiting escorts. The risk would be too high. Although, come to think of it - who would police it!!?? There are few enough cops as it is!!

I wonder how many clients will attempt to bargain that down.

How would they prove the offence ? you could bring a few tools and say you were the plumber fixing the heating !!! Tools could be a loose term here.

I haven't come across this latest madness - parliamentary group, only the our lovely Minister for The Interior is going to meet the Lovely Denise Charlton, ICI, who is to the forefront in helping immigrants here by removing selling sex voluntarily as an option for them!

Also a 1000 fine would actually make the government the biggest pimp of all!

So far as I am concerned, I do hope they criminalise the whole practice. I fully understand their rationale : if they are not getting any sex at home or if the sex is crap and / or are too tight or anal to seek it elsewhere, why the hell should anyone else have a good time?

I have my few private numbers saved in my phone and am sure that I can go off the grid and still be more than alright. It is probably the same for most on here. But if one is coming afresh to the game, then it may well become very difficult. And as for the girls, the numbers working will reduce sharply and the prices will increase exponentially! The established girls (and guys!) will have their regulars and will get a higher fee for seeing fewer clients.

    So (almost) everyone wins!
