Is anyone proposing that Aberdeen and Grampian remain in the UK, while the rest of Scotland goes independent? I hadn't heard that?
No one is proposing independence for only a part of Scotland, and so the term "united Scotland" is an utterly meaningless term. Further, for those who feel the pain of Irish partition, and long for a united Ireland, I should imagine your use of the term "united Scotland" is an insult. Not that I would expect you to care or even understand...
Berwick upon Tweed is claimed by England against the wishes of the people. So yes, Scotland is not united.

In a way they are not united but different from NI, the people are divided and some who want independence will also fear going it alone and may actually vote against, better the devil you know and that. Strange too as already mentioned that they seek independence but still dont want to cut ties with the currency.

I hope they vote yes. Best chance for England to unshackle itself from the dead corpse of the EU. Thank the Lord we never got conned into joining the vanity project that is the Euro.
If Scotland goes it alone, it will alter it's tax and development policies and so begin to compete directly with Ireland. Having said that, I love Scotland and would love to see them have the strength of courage and self belief to take their future in the own hands. Of course that would then probably mean that guaranteed conservative majority rule for England, Wales and to a lesser extend NI for decades to come!
