Such shocking news, can remember him right back to the days of mork and Mindy which I just loved as a young kid. Was very young when Dead Poets society and Good Morning Vietnam were released, but have seen them countless times since and he was brilliant in both. His performance in Good will Hunting was also excellent, and some of his stand up was very good.

As someone who has lost very close people to the horrible affliction of depression and suicide I understand only too well how those who seem to be so happy can often be hiding the inner torment they are dealing with.

    R.I.P

Very talented actor and comedian. Such a tragic way to go but as other posters have said not an uncommon one unfortunately

Very very sad end to a brilliant and very funny actor who made everybody laugh but had his own big big problems behind the mask of all the fun and enjoyment he gave to all!

FFs he lost 25 million and his boat. Thats not depression. Its stupidity. In any case now all those who choose to live miserably have another role model.

He seemed to have followed his own ideals so. He was taking unwanted acting roles to make money. Poor bastard. He isnt losing his home or not able to find work like so many others. It just goes to show how out of touch with reality some become.
