    What a vulgar image.

Imo there's a difference between wanting people/partner/friends in your life (which I'm very happy to report -- I have just

as many lovely people in my life to share with , as I like ) , and

    needing people to feel whole.

Imo the first makes for healthy r/ships (wanting to be with the person you are with )

    The second is dysfunctional.

Of course that is only my very humble opinion.
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

Nonsense! Opinions shape who we are, how we think, how we view the world and our place in it. Whether or not we choose to share that with others...

I think this is not so much a matter of opinion but of personal orientation, which is a little different. If I understand you correctly you are comfortable with people and having relationships but would find being dependent on people, in a needy sense, dysfunctional.

On the contrary, I find relationships which go beyond mutual support and pleasure into needy dependence more engaging and fruitful. The dysfunctionality which you refer to, I see as an empowering vulnerability. To take an example from a BDSM scenario -though there are plenty of vanilla examples - a submissive who allows herself to become devoted to a Master to the point of needing him, of being dependent on him, entirely vulnerable to rejection by him such that it would cast her into despair, opens up for herself the possibility of fulfilling her aspirations to a degree otherwise unimaginable. Such a relationship is 'alternative' but, I would suggest, not dysfunctional.

However, Im not knocking the alternative approach since its not so much a matter of opinion but of how we feel comfortable living.
