Are we talking about luxury, or contentment or satisfaction here?

For me luxury is being so looked after that the cares of the world are completely forgotten...

its the simple act of spoiling yourself -- and being completely comfortable with that ...


: It's when I'm lying prone on a heated marble slab in a cloud of soap suds , every inch of muscle being teased and

stretched until it loses all resistance , that I decide sometimes originality really is the best. High-tech spa treatments are

well and good, but I'm not sure anything ever felt as sumptuous as this simple hammam treatment..


I'm drenched in hot , then cold water ; scrubbed until my skin's flayed of its top layer ; then laid out on the marble slab ,

underneath the glorious , star cut dome.

The therapist dips a pillowcase into a bucket of soapy water , sways it rhythmically in the air , and squeezes the suds

all over me . Then comes the massage , through the foam : unrelentingly firm , vanquishing every knot of tension.

As she leads me back to the sink to wash me off , wrap me up like a baby and dispatch me into the aftercare of sherbet

proffering receptionists , my muscles are so relaxed I can barely stand.

A sultan-approved treatment in a royal hammam.

So maybe find another small luxury you can fit into your life ? A weekend away at a fab location ?

Ireland has so many beautiful castles , forts , Manor Houses ; two days in one , removed from everyday life -- heaven

I think it's important to indulge yourself in whatever you deem 'a luxury' every so often .

It's a gift to your own self xx
