It is my understanding that as the law states at the moment (please correct me if I am wrong) it is not illegal for one girl to work from a premises if she is the only girl there. If she shares accommodation with one or more girls, this is illegal and classed as a brothel. I read on this site that if there are girls working in different apartments within the same apartment block and share bathroom facilities or whatever then the entire block can be considered a brothel, which is a bit mad. It is legal for a number of girls to work from the same hotel, as long they are working from different rooms and not sharing any facilities, i.e. towels for a client's shower, if though for example two girls were offering duo services from a hotel, then this is considered a brothel and therefore illegal.
I know that some girls do operate from a premises on their own, possibly they prefer it that way. I know that some girls do share accommodation with an friend or whatever. I think to expect girls to have to operate from a premises alone in order not to be considered doing something illegal is madness. Surely what the most important thing is the girl's safety. A girl surely would feel safer knowing that she has a friend in the other bedroom, kitchen or whatever that she can call on for help if she gets a drunk or an asshole client trying to be heavy handed with her. If there is nobody else there she is at the mercy of said asshole and could end up getting very hurt, robbed or worse, who can she call out for. We have heard today about some filth robbing girls in Galway. While I take my hat off to the girls involved for reporting to the authorities, I wonder if girls getting robbed, hassled happens more often than we hear as they are afraid to report it to the police fear of getting themselves into trouble. As well as the obvious safety issue for girls working alone, there is the financial aspect. My understanding is that there is a separate section of this website only accessible to girls, where apartments are advertised. Some girls have told me that the rent that they pay in some areas can be 800 euro or more a week, so surely sharing with a friend and splitting the cost is the obvious choice.
We have heard today of premises been raided in Roscommon, and as I type this now Letterkenny, last week Kerry. It would appear that the Gardai are taking more of an interest at the moment. I wonder if girls were in a situation where they were unable to share accommodation, would they continue to operate here. There is the obvious safety issues that come from not having a friend there as some sort of back up. Then there is the financial side, think about it, if a girl is paying 800 euro a week for accommodation and charging 80 euro for thirty minutes, she needs to see ten clients just to cover the rent. There is the cost of advertising here, other expenses that go along with providing a service, living costs etc. This is something I wonder, though I do not ask or expect any girl to answer as I know it may compromise them somewhat.
I wonder as clients, when we are visiting a girl in an apartment do we ever think that there may be a chance there may be another girl there too, although she may be unseen or unheard. Are we comfortable with this possibility, as in the eyes of the law we are visiting a brothel and therefore doing something illegal. If over coming weeks we see more raids been highlighted, will clients deter from seeing girls for fear of been caught in such a premises. I know it easy to say something like "I'm always careful when selecting the girl I visit" but realistically how can you say that you know for sure that there wouldn't be any possibility of another girl on the premises. It would have to a girl that you have visited before, sat out in the livingroom and had a coffee or whatever during your visit. Having said it happened to me before that I visited a girl, afterwards I wanted to smoke, so she took me into the livingroom, she made me a coffee. She had just arrived that day and had all her stuff in boxes. She asked if I would hang on and help her unpack, move some of her things, I was more than happy to stay and help her and in doing so I ended been in every room of the apartment and could see that we were alone there. I went back to see her a few days later, afterwards I asked if I could go to the livingroom to smoke. She told me I couldn't as her friend who has arrived two nights previously was in there. So unbeknown to me that I was doing something illegal by just been there. Don't get me wrong, I didn't go rushing out or anything, I have visited girls where I know that they have friends there also, or had duos, I suppose this is a risk I have been willing to take, how do other clients feel on this matter. As I have said I think to expect a girl to have to operate from a premises alone is madness, be it the financial issues, but more importantly the safety issues.
