Thread: Trafficked girls

  1. Default

What responsibilities does this website have on this matter. I know that it is impossible to say that one hundred percent that a girl may be trafficked just by looking at their pictures, profiles. But if there is suspicion of any kind should these profiles be allowed to be advertised. Girls using profiles with unverified photos, some of which aren't very good, profiles with ratted positive reviews by clients that only have ratted reviews, should they be allowed to be advertised on this site. I know behind all the chat rooms, forums, EOTM competitions, beautiful girls, the main purpose of this website is to generate revenue for it's owners. Do they overlook their responsibilities in preventing trafficking for financial gain. I quote directly from this website "clients play an important role in stopping sex trafficking and exploitation in Ireland - please do your part" While this is entirely true, surely this website plays an important role too.

I would ask the moderators of this site to comment, share their views.

If clients do this and the Gardaí end up admitting that clients are doing it, that becomes the best argument against the Swedish model.

The issue of trafficking can only be properly tackled when we take the "grey" area out of sex work. Unless sex work is regulated, traffickers will continue to profit from it. The subject is characterised in this country with inaccuracies and false information. The Dept of Justice figures released annually are considerably lower than the propaganda produced by Rhuama and other groups. That is not to say we can be complacent and pretend it isn't happening.

Trafficking in its proper context is more a problem for the domestic and hospitality sectors. The state would be better served putting resources into tackling the problem there rather than giving huge grants to Rhuama to publish misinformation.

You mean coerced, as trafficked is not definitive enough. Any girl that is assisted to come here to work is deemed "trafficked"

There are 3 types of assisted workers here as I see it. Every assigned girl pays a fee for this assistance. Fees can vary. A lot of girls are quite happy with the terms.

    1. Happily assisted
    2. Assisted but exploited
    3. Coerced.

It has been asked should websites like this one be responsible for discovering and exposing types 2 & 3. Advertising websites are just that ... Advertising Agents. Members of staff on theses type sites do not visit nor meet their customers. How are they expected to know which advertiser is kosher or not. But they do offer a review system and these forums, so that those that do meet the girls can discuss or raise alarm.

Having said this, in all my years here. I have seen many threads from "what is your favourite colour of knickers" to "Mary in Donegal gives the best head"..... I have never once seen any thread or discussion raising alarm or expressing concern about an escorts well being.

They are probably the ones when clients decide to complain about a poor service as a result of the escort being 'coerced' rather than taking the initiative to acknowledge the problem (if it existed in the first place) and reporting it to the people that can help: the authorities.

Are you trying to suggest that posts which don't fit into some sort of political correctness brief from E-I get deleted?

If this actually happens, it plays straight into the hands of the antis; they would say that E-I is no more than a pimping lobby. If such posts get deleted, any pretence of E-I as an impartial site where provider meets client is destroyed.

Perhaps, Mr/Ms moderators of E-I, you could post your thoughts about transparency; how and why you apply whatever rules you have; the suggestion that things are not quite what they really are isn't something acceptable.

I appreciate that clients don't pay for your service, and that therefore you might think that your primary responsibility is to those who pay—the providers. Nonetheless, without a client base who can rely on your transparent honesty and impartiality, your business model must be suspect.

    What say you?
