There are probably a million and one things he could have done that would have brought him to a different place but I never go for that idea that if he'd seen an escort everything would have been ok.

Rodger was obviously a deeply ill individual who needed serious medical and psychiatric care long before things ended up as they did.

The reason I don't go for the 'if only he'd seen an escort' angle is that I don't think escorts should have to deal with sick people like this when the rest of society doesn't seem to bother, it's not their duty to do this any more than any of the rest of us should have to. Yes seeing an escort can help certain private issues but for something as serious as this they shouldn't have to take one for the team if no one else wants to.

I think the poster above was joking in fairness to him. If you are driving a BMW and you are not happy with your life, something is a bit odd i would say.

I dont think he was seriously ill. I think he was just sick of being rejected and was a broken individual. The same thing happened with the student who killed at virgina tech. These guys are being rejected by their peers and they take it out on society. To say that they are dellusional when they carry out these crimes is not true. They are fully aware of what they are doing.

There might be substance to the link between autism and these perpetrators, but saying that autism is the cause would be wrong as well. These men are fully conscious of what they are doing.

People spring the insanity plea so they can sleep well knowing that normal people dont do this, but i hate to break it to you, it is normal people who commit most crimes

I have sympathy for the lad and I don't totally blame him, society and life among people his age can be very very cruel unfortunately, he just snapped and had enough.

The guy had mental health problems, he was prescribed drugs to help bi polar and schizophrenia, which he refused to take.
Does anyone here really think that a guy with delusions about killing women and concentration camps would have been an ideal candidate to see a sex worker? FFS!

Having bipolar and schizophrenia is not enough to make someone go out on a killing spree. It wasnt as if his psychiatric illnesses caused him to do what he did. He was consciously aware of what he was doing, despite being schizophrenic and bipolar. He was not delusional at the time of the killing, in fact he was acutely aware of his actions. In fact i would attest that the actual labeling of him as schizophrenic and bipolar is the root cause of what he did, not the illnesses themselves. if you are trying to ascertain that only an insane mad man could do this, i am telling you now that is false. He was in control of his actions and could have easily chosen not to do such things. alas he chose to differ.

If you want to stop people repeating this behavior, then people must stop segregating people based on race, sexuality, mental health, physical health and so on. But that wont happen.

I remember reading a thread on this website about an escort who turned down a client who was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Now i am not question the escort. She can reject who she wants and is fully within her rights, but it is that kind of prejudice that caused elliot rodgers to lose it. Blaming it on mental health problems is petty. The amount of people on anti depressants in the world would astound you. The US anti depressant market is worth about 12 billion alone.

Elliot rodgers was like you and me. he wasnt some weirdo. he had a family and grew up in a respectable home. Its just he was beaten down. So the moral of the story is be nice to everyone, not too nice, but nice enough.
