FORTALEZA, Brazil — Brazil’s team doctor says Neymar will miss the rest of the World Cup after breaking a vertebra during the team’s quarterfinal win over Colombia.

Neymar was kneed in the back by Colombia defender Juan Camilo Zuniga in the second half of Brazil’s 2-1 win, and was in tears when he was carried off the field on a stretcher.


He was taken to a local clinic and team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said after the match that the star striker had broken his third vertebra.

Why is it that whenever something happens with some Brazilian players on important game on world cups?Funny nothing happens in the hard games in teams of Europe important games etc. ... Maybe FIFA will make more money with Neymar watching the games beside of his famous actriz girlfriend than playing and losing the world Cup...WORLF CUP any things is possible...But we can do?Just wast our time watching till END hahaha

I'm usually not one for referee bashing, but the ref for the Brazil - Columbia game was awful . He didn't stamp any discipline on the game and the players then started taking matters into their own hands.

That foul on Neymar - deliberate knee into the back, with no attempt to play the ball was diabolical. And it was deliberate and cynical. The player that committed it should be banned for whatever duration Neymar is out. And the ref should be banned for an equal duration , if not for life!

Before the world cup i wanted Brazil to win,but having watched them kick Colombia off the field last night i changed my mind,this is not the brazil way,this is not what made them the best in the world,I seen the challange on Neymar and if you want to blame anyone then blame the 11 players in yellow for kicking colombia off the pitch for 90 mins,or better blame the referee for allowing it.
