    Default Its a rip off

    I called to price first time car insurance and have been quoted €1850 and €1975, one quoted me a Huge €2360
    Thats more than the car I was thinking of buying is worth, doesn't make any sense at all and a rip off

    If you don't have a NCD then this is about right — believe it or not I know lads who paid over €4000 for first time insurance a few years ago! One guy got a €6000 loan — the car was €1800 and the insurance was €4000! He spent the €200 towards motor tax!

    WOW! Mine was on a 1.0 L yaris, 2001, dont have a NCD

    His was a 96 1.3 Fiesta! The stupid thing is that it is not based on the size of the engine or the value of the car — it is the liability of the vehicle on the road! A 1.0 Yaris is just as likely to be involved in an accident with a €50k car as is an brand new 3.0 €100k car!

    When i started driving my insurance was about 2 grand, on a 1.2, its a joke

    If I was living in Northern Ireland Cheapest quote was 620 stg, there a big difference there
