This is a very good idea
I completely agree. There is too much cr@p and moralising of this industry due to misunderstanding and prejudice. The more people who can wake up to the fact that this is a good and respectable career and industry the better.
I will give her a call. We need to dispel some of the myth about sex and sex workers and clients.
An email from Dr Susann Huschke today (13 October):
Dearest research participants,
it looks like the report will finally be published this Friday (fingers crossed!) - just on time to be available before the NI Assembly votes on the Lord Morrow Bill (next Monday, 20 Oct). We will start engaging with the media this week to get some coverage of the release of the report and raise awareness among the public.
Journalists are probably going to ask for additional interviewees, i.e. sex workers and/or clients. Please let me know if you would be willing to be interviewed (I would assume that due to the sensitivity of the topic, anonymous phone interviews or something like that would do) in any shape or form. And if so, please send me a contact number asap so I can get in touch when they are requests - journalism works a lot faster than research and people usually want responses within a day or so.
Also, we're going to have a launch event for the report on 18 Nov here in Belfast. I am going to try to get live video coverage and a twitter feed set up so that those of you who would not want to come to protect your anonymity could still ask questions or make comments via twitter.
And again: thank you for your help!!! This would not have been possible without your courageous support! I hope the report represents all of your voices truthfully - and that some people in this country will listen to what you have to say!
All the best,
-Susann
