probably end up as processed meat in a local supermarket
It may not help with organ donation (but it still may, just not badly affect organs) but from a study perspective it could help in untold ways.
Say, for example, you got lung cancer from smoking and your body was donated to a medical university where it was the study of a group of student doctors, one of whom found the study of your pathology to be so interesting that it inspired him/her to go on and specialize in cancer medicine. What if that person went on to make a large contribution to the field of cancer research and in an indirect, or even possibly a very direct way was responsible for new cancer treatments?
If that happened it would be incalculable how much worth donating your body to science resulted in.
For me its "donate and burn after ye are finished folks".
