Default Your 2013 Game of the Year?

If you look on the internet there are hundreds of different #1's for the 2013 Game of the Year, and each one is different. I don't really care about that... I want to know what your 2013 Game of the Year would be.

For me, it would have to be either of the following games:

Both Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite are fantastic games that, if you haven't tried them, you should.

Tomb Raider is a game that I have argued and argued about with a friend of mine who said that the jumping and running "was stolen from Assassin's Creed" and that "it just wasn't Lara Croft". My argument for that was that the Tomb Raider games were around before Assassin's Creed and that the point of the game is that it isn't Lara Croft. It's her beginnings, when she becomes the woman we know her to be, and you see how difficult it is for her to cope with what happens throughout the game. It is a beautiful game to watch and so good to play and it infuriates me that people fob it off because it isn't the same Lara Croft we know.

Bioshock Infinite is also a beautiful game to play through and the story feels very different for me to the usual ones. You are cut off from the world in the town that is Columbia and there is lots of interesting things going on in the background to keep you watching. It is a bit difficult (or it was, for me) to get to grips with the combat but I managed it and was so happy when I did. It made the game much more enjoyable and I loved playing it very much. I haven't played either of the other Bioshock games, but that's because I am a massive wimp. (It was hard enough playing Bioshock Infinite with the creepy crow man right near the beginning, and Tomb Raider with the wolves!)

So, what would your 2013 Game of the Year be?

The beauty of the internet is that there is always a 'close' button.

I actually just completed Tomb Raider about a week ago. 'Twas quite fun but very easy. I just used the bow throughout, only used the other weapons to get the achievements.

As one or two have said already though, GTA 5 has to be the one

I didn't get to play many games last year so there is only 2 that stand out for me and that gta5 and the last of us.
If I had to pick one it would be the last of us, I admit the AI in the game was pants but for over all story and the look of the game I thought were great.

    2012 otherwise I'd have picked FC3 myself.

    Ugh! GTA5. It's not even Rockstar's best game ever.... <mutter, complain>

I would have to agree with Bioshock Infinite. The game is absolutely beautiful both visually and in terms of it's narrative. I've heard people say it's too violent or even unnecessarily so. Well if they've been playing the game they'd understand the reasons; it is a gorgeous world held in stark contrast to the ugly violent nature underlying the society. It's pretty close to being the perfect game. And Lara, you could always leave the lights on when you play the first Bioshock.

I've heard people accuse Crystal Dynamics of ripping off Uncharted when making the new Tomb Raider. Yes, that game about the treasure hunter, Drake, who goes around remote parts of the world, looking for valuable artifacts and mysterious odds and ends, jumping and climbing around, solving puzzles. Like some kind of tomb raiding person.
