Christmas, what Is It for you?

Christmas as we know is a day for our lord () I know right lol !

How many of you actually see it as a religious day or dedicate it to jesus? And how many just see It as what It is, a materialistic day spent with friends and family?

Personally as a proud Atheist and dedicated hater of all things catholic, christain and whatever the fuck else you want to call it I see It as a day to get bladdered in order to forget its christmas, I just dont like the day or the holiday. People wll call me pessimistic but really I couldnt give a toss.

I love how Christmas brings families closer together. I love the anticipation on the faces of the children. I love to hear carols being sung. It's great to hear people exchanging good wishes. Most of all, I love the peace that Christmas time brings.

Christmas for me is spending time with the ones that you love... and then leaving as quickly as possible for a bit of peace and quiet It is also all about the pretty lights in the darkness, the shiny decorations in a fire-lit room on a cold Winter's evening, good food and festive songs

To be fair, it is his opinion on it. I am an Atheist too, but I do respect that some people do endear Christmas for its intended purpose; to worship Jesus. However, Christmas has transformed from that to massive commercialisation and we encourage our children to worship Santa (who never actually existed, even as a saint) rather than a religious profit, that according to religion, atoned for our sins. Being from an Irish family (from NI and the Republic), I know that most people in Ireland only bother to attend church on special occasions anyway, and that's just to keep up with the Jones', so I think there is an element of truth and honesty in what Jay is saying
