I speak from experience having spent 22 years there.
physically it takes about 3 months to get up to speed,
the hardest part is the psychological stuff.
It takes a lot of doing to make people from so many different cultures and languages to think and act as one,plus there is learning the linguo which can be tricky.
After that , plain sailing !

U can do a JobBridge course , u get 50 quid on top of ur dole payment, sign on anyway mate if ur off work, i know its not great been on the dole but u have to sign on.

Maybe do a course of some sort, How do the FAS courses compare to the Regional college courses ???????
Starting your own business would also be something to look into and plenty of help available.

At that time it was an Irish Government office type job in the US so no need for a visa , over the years a lot of that has changed but hes now a US Citizen , nothing fancy at that time as far as office work goes but as soon as he got a start no stopping him, so really what im saying is grab any chance that comes along cause you never knows what it might lead to

yamser, if you dont mind me asking, what is the computer course you are doing at the moment.
I have a brother who is a qualified electrician who is doing information technology in an regional college due to having no work now.
He did do a 1 year course in computer about 6 years ago and now is back to full time study, its tough he says but he is doing ok
I did a springboard postgrad course in computer science
Got me a job and everything
Go for it
I was employed for 9 years meself and let go.its a fair kick in the stones my advice would be head to australia
