    Default Money spent at Christmas

Why dosent everybody this year completely ignore Xmas and instead of spending money
on gorging themselves on food ,drink buying stupid decorations presents for others and
themselves and all other forms of partying and waste of money sit down and calculate
exactly what Xmas would cost u .
Once uve reached a figure then obviously this is money that u can afford to waste so here
is my suggestion, donate the money u would have spent to the people in the
Philipines and do some good, no good donating a tenner to salve ure conscience donate
every penny u would spend and just do without the meaningless celebration u would be
normaly having. I am doing this myself .
i Know this wont happen because as people everybody is too selfish and self centred.
Im calculating at the moment what Xmas would cost me and every time i see something
that i would normally spend money on at Xmas i just note down the cost and will add
all together at the end and donate that amount, u will be amazed how much it will be
from the tree to the food the drink the cost of going to partys.
    Anybody else up for this?
If u still buy Xmas stuff and donate the money ure not doing enough as obviously u
could have afforded to do more and are totally missing the point.Ure donating when it hurts
Remember how much better ure ordinary day is compared to what those peoples xmas
    will be
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed
    but

Hi Ber, I'm with you on this one, too often I have taken the easy option of making a donation that can seem generous, but in truth it is always an amount I can afford. Your idea of give all you can to those who have lost all they ever had may seem painful at first but in truth it reflects the true nature of Christmas.
Give til it hurts - no matter how hard it hurts you, it'll never match the suffering being endured by the people of the Philipines.

Christmas is the one time of year when in my house we splurge a little. We have close family there for dinner, both our fathers are dead so itīs mothers and two sisters, We go a bit over the top with food and drink and enjoy ourselves. Neither of us go out to christmas parties, our kids are pretty much at that age when one good size present is all they need or want . So to be honest, I have no intention of stopping and giving all the money to charity , we give quite a bit during the year and I will not ruin the one time that we make an effort.

Phillipines is where the money is most needed? Plenty of places in the World where people are worse off. Why not give up escorts from now on and donate to them too Ber?

Christmas is a great time of the year. Brings families together.

I also hope to support the many lovely ladies here who will be away from home. I feel I'll be doing 'my bit ' in a way .

This year I have already decided instead of buying family and friends xmas presents,I will be making a donation to the Philippines
Disaster fund,I will still be sending everyone an Xmas card but I have already printed a little note which I will put inside every card explaining why there will be no Xmas presents this year.

This is because the amount of money needed to help rarely if ever gets to those who need it most. Between govs taking it and keeping it and charities taking some for expenses along with some large payments to some charity owners and top staff then there isnt really a great deal left.
