Wrong actually, statistically sex workers in Australia, NZ, the UK and Ireland have lower rates of STIs than the general population.

To be honest I haven't found anything confirming that OWO is risk free so I am not sure what you mean by 'either side' of the argument.

If adults, armed with the facts and fully aware of the risks are happy with the risk level and choose to engage in OWO that's completely their own business. I have no problem with that and neither should anyone else.

Why bother? Some people aren't aware of the OWO risks and given the nature of the site it's the ideal place for it to be talked about.

Why would anyone discourage education about sexual health? It may have been, done and done again but if it reaches someone was who ignorant about it I don't see how that can possibly be construed as a bad thing.

Yes, kissing carries risks, but the strains of HPV are actually more specific than that. Apart from active herpes legions, none of the contractable STIs from oral sex can be transmitted by kissing.

and with estimates that this form of herpes is very very common, its nearly in fashion to have it. These are cold sores ( it may be there even if no cold sore)

It's not superior knowledge. It's just knowledge that all sex workers and clients ought to have. I've been given consistent information and advice by staff at the screening clinic over the years as well as searching for more information online. As a sex worker I feel I have a responsibility to myself to do that. The facts are all out there.

Not sure how my contribution to a discussion about STI risks enhances lives but if it gives people useful information they didn't have before, then great!

I still don't understand why people react so negatively and feel they have to justify or defend their choices so aggressively. Nobody is questioning anyone's right to choice.

Fair enough Z3, I have said what I wanted to say, my opinion is always towards best practice in this area, its always good to keep this topic on the wire updated as the downside is serious. we all at some stage dance with the devil in life, and sooner or later we will need to pay the band. As has already been posted in this thread the points you raised though valid have been discussed on lots of other posts since the start of this site so in effect you are preaching to the converted and if people are getting defensive it might be because they are tired explaining again and again the fact that they do know the risks they are taking ,not only with health but with with their privacy , and except them

I have been on this site for a while now and still learning about it (not everyone’s great at computers loll) and I am sure there are always newbie’s coming to this and other website forums to find out more information before jumping feet first into things, which is the best way of doing things for some, and I did the same.
If it was just discussed the once about OWO/a few times (or any other potently dangerous health topic) there would be no “new” options on it or new helpful links on such subjects in this business and personally I would much prefer to start a new link then trolling threads to find others (old) option about such an important subject when life is ever changing and we are learning more about different health issues every day, plus these threads get deleted after a length of time too.

In regards to “preaching to the converted” it’s a personal choice for each person and people do change their minds about such things. Loll and if you and others here have found girls or guys you feel you can trust with this, great! Personally I would not trust any of my ex-boyfriends until I was with them for some time, let alone a complete stranger with my health in this line of work for love or money.

And I totally understand your concern about “privacy” after the resent harming content previously in the media (my heart goes out to that person) most of the clients here on this site sign up for a new email account which is not connected to their home life and use avatars also not associated with who they really are, unlike us girls and guys in the business who do leave a paper trail, so if it’s us girls and guys in the business you are in fact trying to look out for than thanks honey, that is sweet of you and I am sure much appreciated by many here.

If it’s the latter for you or any others out there then we all know it’s not compulsory to put your feeling and personal information out there on-line for all to see.

We were all newbie’s at some point and how we came to where we are today was due to the care, help and understanding of other like-mined people like ourselves now, so let’s not push everyone away just because they show interest otherwise those in the media and in politics may end up tipping the scale in their favour and I don’t think any of us real EI users would want that.
