, I don't see why people should be getting defensive on this one, I find this usually is the case when there has been exposure.

As has already been posted in this thread the points you raised though valid have been discussed on lots of other posts since the start of this site so in effect you are preaching to the converted and if people are getting defensive it might be because they are tired explaining again and again the fact that they do know the risks they are taking ,not only with health but with with their privacy , and except them

Fair enough Z3, I have said what I wanted to say, my opinion is always towards best practice in this area, its always good to keep this topic on the wire updated as the downside is serious. we all at some stage dance with the devil in life, and sooner or later we will need to pay the band. If I have educated even one person on this thread I am happy.

I neither suggested not implied that you were riddled with disease. If you took that from my comments, then I apologise. However, I would think (and I'm basing this on nothing but my own logic and feeling admittedly) that an escort is statistically more likely to contract an std.

As for regular testing being an adequate protection. Is this not a little like trying to avoid pregnancy by using a pregnancy test?

Wrong ,statistically, there is more chance to catch an Std from a badly washed glass in a pub than from a sex worker.

I suppose the moral of the story I agree with a previous poster is that if you have any concerns do not undertake un-protected oral sex in its various forms and that is the bottom line.
People are free to make their own choice, but this choice should be aware of all the information, this is one of the reasons I am contributing to this thread
As regards the “slapper on a Saturday night”, yes indeed not risk free, although this person does not spend each day performing OWO with a range of clients.
I think many clients bury their heads in the sand on this one. It goes both ways escorts have to be mindful of their clients.
It’s ok to say that you get tested on a regular basis; it’s always about the exposure. Getting tested on a regular basis will only let you know sooner if you have a condition.
And in the case of an escort or client getting a positive result for any of the possible conditions, will they try/want (or to be able to) contact the people who could be exposed. I doubt this

Crux is if you have OWO you should really get tested and have no further exposure until test results are back. If you have any worry about HIV from OWO (as very low risk as it is but not zero) you need now to wait only 28 days in Ireland with no further exposure. The “Duo” testing is available now in Ireland, this not only tests for the antibodies created but also the virus itself. Previously it was a standard 12 week period for results, although my view was that the results after 6 weeks were fairly representative

For reasons I have never quite figured out, some people get very defensive when OWO facts are discussed. It's as though they would rather pretend there is no risk or the risks somehow don't apply to them.

However, when there is a discussion, some guys who were previously unaware, do go and check out the facts and decide to play safe from thereon.

Whether it's been 'discussed before' or not, I feel it's good to come back to it occasionally.
