Default Dublin: Picture Of Girl Found In Street Released

Police in Dublin have released a picture of a teenage girl found wandering who they fear may be the victim of sex trafficking.

Police fear she may be the victim of sex trafficking after she drew them pictures of herself apparently being raped.
Interpol has been called in to try to identify the girl who may be from eastern Europe. She is yet to speak to officers.
However, she has reportedly drawn several pictures, with one illustrating men around a bed handing over cash.
The girl is described as 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with long blonde hair. She was found wearing a purple hooded top, tight dark coloured jeans, flat black shoes and a grey woollen jumper.
In a statement, police said a major investigation was underway into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the girl.
It has so far involved over 2000 man hours, and more than 115 lines of enquiry.
These include door-to-door enquires, vehicle and pedestrian checks in the vicinity of where the girl was discovered and the seizure and viewing of CCTV from the city centre.
Police have also shown her picture to specialised child interviewers from throughout the country.
"As a result of these enquiries 15 possible names were provided to investigators. These were fully checked but unfortunately her identity remains unknown as present."
Police sought High Court approval to release the picture after inquiries drew a blank. The girl is subject to an interim care order.
The statement said: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may recognise the girl from the photo. Do you recognise this girl?
"Did you have any interactions with her? Did you pass her in a distressed state in the city centre in and around October 10?
"Any information is vital to the investigation, and the welfare of the child. Any information passed to us, will of course be treated in the strictest of confidence."

amazing how it looks like no one at least according to that article has considereed getting an interpreter in to talkto her to find out what Actually happened to her, rather than being sensationalist and putting the possibility about trafficking out there. they say shes eastern euro Im sure it wouldnt be too much trouble to find an interpreter that speaks her language soon.

I think she is not talking at all funlover ( she draw pictures ), that is why it is hard to establish which language interpreter they require?
It is horrible, I really hope they will be able to find out more about her ordeal.

I think the Garda must have more information than they're releasing to the public. Something fishy about this whole story, is the girl refusing to speak or is she unable to speak? I hope the case is resolved quickly and I also hope it has nothing to do with trafficking. The media are obsessed with trafficking cases, it's like they 'want' it to be about trafficking.

Latest information is that the girl is actually Australian and 19/20 years of age and not the suggested teenage trafficked girl.Still unknown why communication seems to be a problem.Hopefully the young lady didn't suffer from the abuse as was reported.Hopefully just another example of 'trafficking' hysteria.

If she has been trafficked, I hope those involved are brought to justice.

    However ...

I am reminded of a documentary based on a young man that went missing in the US when quite young. Years down the line, a walter mitty type looking for a loving family, found his details on Google, then claimed to be him, with tales of rape and abuse.

The best bit, his supposed family never queried certain anomalies ... his change of eye colour. He was also a man in his 20's rather than a young teenager.

They seemed to be coaching him about family events and history. He quickly realised he'd walked into something bigger and that the stories of their son being abducted were false.

But the point is how easy it is for someone to "turn up" and pursue a new identity, new age, etc, coming up with excuses not to talk at first.

Now, why doesn't that surprise me. She definitely looked older than 14 in that picture.

There was that case of a "young" boy who claimed he'd been orphaned and been living wild. Then a friend recognised his photo and it was all complete bull.
