I wonder if he still has loads of dosh stashed away? I would think he still has power but the new guys wont like him around. A bad man Gilligan.

The general opinion of the CAB and gardai is that he dosent have any money that they have got at most of it.
I also think it will be very hard for him to get going again, the whole scene has totally moved on , its more extreme
more violent run by twentysomethings that know no fear and as can be seen everday they will kill Gilligan if he trys
to move in on their terrotiry. The Gardai are pretty confident that his old network is disbanded and scattered to the winds.
The one thing that might be Gilligans downfall is his arrogance, anybody that has ever had contact with him say that he is most arrogant person they ever met. He just might be arrogant enough to think these guys will move aside for him , i fear that wont happen

Very true but these big guys can be very clever and some of the big gangsters tend to control a lot from inside the jail all depends if that true are not, but one thing for sure he was equally as bad a the new kids on the block.

I wouldnt think he ever had that much power, not in a Mafia type way, remember its 16 yrs since he was involved, there
have been many battles for turf since, actually the whole landscape has changed, u must also take into account that
in his era the paramilitaries (IRA) were major players aswell, now they are only fragmented groups of dissidents.
Most of the thugs nowdays were in Nappies when he was a force, while he was a dangerous and violent man the whole
game has ratcheded up many notches since. These new guys neither fear nor respect him and i wouldnt be surprised if some
never even heard of him. In todays landscape if another journalist was murdered i dont think it would cause the same effect
as Veronica Guerins murder did that line has been crossed so to speak.
All in all i think Gilligans time has come and gone and he wont be back

He survived a life of crime and was a huge player up to his 40s, I would think he has enough about him to carve out a living if he so wishes without ruffling feathers that he doesn't want to ruffle.
