Great article, great report, well done to all concerned. Exposes all the lies told by the anti-sex work brigade, and the lack of any independent research that should of been done before the J.O.(C.)ke issued their insane recommendations based on the TORL handbook.
Let us hope that some of the political class takes notice of this, form their own opinions rather than accepting the standard TORL lies and reject the Swedish model as other countries have done.

Send it on to Minister of Justice and copy to the Justice Committee free but also I would suggest writing an article for one of the papers like the Irish Independent and one of the tabloids. Ask the committee to read it and comment given they are getting research for free to at least take the effort. Also SWAI they would be very interested I'm sure and could take it up with the Committee.

Good article, but nothing I didn't know about before.

I've been sitting on a Phd. Thesis about the escort/prostitution industry in Ireland for OVER A YEAR NOW; a full, qualitative study undertaken right here in Ireland. It's over 230 pages in length, well-researched, and very much in favour of the 'prostitution as work' angle of the debate, and SPECIFICALLY AGAINST the Swedish Model, as well as Ruhama and their ilk.

The trouble is, no one I've told about it around here actually wants to read the thing! I spent an hour and 20 quid of my own money scanning the thing in to have it as an easily downloadable PDF, but still no takers...

Ok, I'd better clarify for EVERYONE before I get anymore PM's about it:

This Phd. Thesis IS NOT MY OWN WORK. I went into the department PERSONALLY and borrowed the hard copy, and took it upon myself to scan-in the whole thing so as to have it as a PDF file. I can NOT personally authorize it being used and/or formally submitted onto any of the authorities or governing bodies to be used in any way as part of the debate and/or arguments for or against the possible future legislation that may or may not come to pass regarding prostitution/escorting.

While yes, the Phd. has been formally 'published' (and thus could be considered to be 'publicly' available) in that it has undergone the formal submission process for recognition as a work submitted for the awarding of a Doctoral Degree, it is NOT my own work, and has NOT to my knowledge been otherwise distributed or made publicly available by the author or the university over/on the internet.

Any 'sharing' I have or will do of this thesis is to be done privately, as I can not allow or authorize its use beyond sharing it for 'private/personal use'. It can not be passed-on through me or anyone but those authorized to do so to any government body.

Yes, correct. Going to see if the author will permit its release or release it to the Dept and Committee at least for their analysis with the assistance of Cable87. The author should write an article for the papers and make a few euros that way given their time and effort.

But yes it would be improper for anyone to send it in other than the other or with authorisation to do so from them. Now is the chance for the author to bring it to life. We will see. But without author's authority I would not release work not my own.
