    Default Norwegian election result

The ruling Norwegian Labour party have been defeated in the general election. It was they that introduced the sex purchase ban in Norway. All the chatter before the election was that if the center right coalition came to power, which they have, they would repeal the sex purchase laws.

Lets hope they do before long and hammer another nail in the TORL coffin.

I would think that this wouldn't exactly be much of a priority. Norway is making shitloads of money from North Sea oil, benefiting from all the Middle East instability, yet have savage tax rates on everything, loads of toll roads etc.

Time will tell, depends on the pressure that is put on them I suppose.

The existence of a prevalent political party who as part of their political manifesto includes the repeal of the criminalisation model is , in itself , an admission of perceived failure of the law.Whilst undoubtedly far far down the list of political issues ,the existence of the intention alone means that the effects of the law certainly wasn't a success as implied by Bacik in her interview with Hook.

Such intention is a help to expose the questionable credibility that TORL claim is a success in 'other countries' .Glad that the traveller made the info available.

As the traveller mentioned in the thread title : Norwegian Conservative Party that has been just elected ,plan to repeal the law of criminalisation :

    Conservative Party Manifesto :
    PAGE 77 : http://publikasjoner.hoyre.no/hoyre/163/
'Abolish the ban on the purchase of sexual services from persons over the age of 18 and upgrade the assistance services for prostitutes'

So The Norwegians have admitted to the failure of the 'Swedish Model' less than five years after its introduction. Wonder will TORL publish about its failure.......

Thanks for that, only just seen it now.
Found that page very interesting as although they propose to abolish the ban they also want to "enhance competence in the police and the courts on violence in intimate relations and random violence against people in society's vulnerable groups" and " reinforce the efforts of the women's shelters and other expert communities with regard to violence in intimate relationships ". All very worth while and such a more suitable task for all the feminist organisations that have jumped on to the TORL bandwagon.

Also found the paragraph " reduce the total number of goals and tasks catered to by the police to ensure satisfactory fulfilment of their remit " In other words, don't send the police out on daft tasks for things that are not real crimes and that can't really be enforced anyway.

"On September 30, the four parties on the right announced that they had reached an agreement for a minority cabinet consisting of the Conservative and Progress parties with confidence and supply from the Liberal and Christian Democratic parties." - Wiki

I would be worried that the great worthy objective of The Conservative Party in this regard would be in danger as a consequence of needing so called Christian Democrat support in other matters! Apparently that party brought this Unchristian and inhuman law in originally!

Tbh , i don't know when or if the Conservative Party will successfully abolish the ban in Norway and if they do , it will be long after the issue has been decided here on this island.
What i think is very revealing however, is that a major political party (prob THE major political party) openly admit the failure of the legislation less than 5 years after its introduction sos much so that it formally repeals it as official party policy.

That fact, imo, is an important statement against the TORL propaganda and is another selling point against its introduction here.A Justice spokeperson for the party should be invited her by politicians to explain why the proposed change of policy based on the actual results is warranted.
