I'm not a fan of either sport, but two of my favourite sports movies are Remember The Titans (college American football) & He Got Game (college Basketball).

Baseball, a crap sport, but great on films. Why??????
Moneyball, the natural, field of dreams, bull Durham, major league, good luck bears, the perfect catch, trouble with the curve.
This sporting life, great rugby league film from the sixties (Richard Harris black and white)
I liked the film Wimbledon, even if it was clichéd and sappy as fuck
Man about dog, great greyhound racing/coursing film
I enjoyed goon, very recent ice hockey film starring stifler from American pie.

The new film Rush is meant to be excellent. Back when formula one was good.
