There's no easy way to deal with it. You can't tell him you don't enjoy having sex with him. It would dent his confidence. You don't know how he would take it. Like someone else said they would be doubting themselves and knock their confidence. If it was an asshole it would be easy. It sounds like he's a nice guy so it's not so easy. I think you just have to sugar coat it and make up excuses.

Maybe because he's not attractive. It's one thing having sex with someone for money and thinking "meh" it's another thing when they're butt ugly. Physical attributes will always win, no matter how nice he is.But sometimes, well the situation that's on my mind at present, the guy is so super lovely

So, he's nice, clean, polite & you're very fond of him, it's nothing to do with his physical appearance ..... hmmm, this one is a toughie. Maybe he resembles a family member? An ex-boyfriend? Someone you dislike?
