Default National Geographic 'Taboo' episode on Prostitution

I just finished watching this documentary episode of the National Geographic of their series 'Taboo' on Prostitution around the world.

They start off in in a red light district of a town in Bangladesh, go on to the high-end brothels of Sydney Australia, over to the streets of Washington D.C., then on to discussing sexual services for the disabled, and finally to a brothel in Prague where the clients and the ladies 'encounter' is live-streamed on the internet!

Overall it's an interesting presentation and discussion of the prostitution industry around the world and of the different people engaged in it and the varying attitudes towards it. A good watch for those who have 45 minutes to spare.

    That is VERY interesting...

...and National Geographic are old, reputable and pretty neutral...

    I must take a look.

Yes, a good documentary. One criticism I have is that the narrator kept saying that some sex workers 'claimed' to enjoy their work. One doesn't use the word 'claim' when referring to any other work so why couldn't he just have said 'some sex workers enjoy their work'? Because it's sex work there's always that element of doubt that sex workers can actually be believed.

Have to agree ,I started to get a bit pissed off with the " Claimed " part ,but having said that the amount of violence towards escorts in the US seems to be out of control ( another claim 75% of all prostitutes in the US were sexually abused as children )they also didnt go into the fact that a lot of independant escorts do not work from brothels as portrayed and they could have looked at how safe their lifestyle was.( those not working in brothels )
Best part about it was the lady in India that has worked for so long and so hard to reclaim her life ,hope things work out for her
