When someone is depressed, they cannot see that their actions in ending their life could have consequences on those around them.
When someone jumps in front of a train to kill themself, they simply think of the end, rather than the fact that, afterwards, the driver will be forced to stay off work for several months and undertake therapy sessions before they are deemed fit to return.
It is very sad that everyone had to see this man kill himself in such a way, but I feel more for those nearby who will have to live through the long-term consequences of his actions (both from losing him in the community and family and also seeing it happen).

dont buy this at all. People who do something like burn themselves want others to see it obviously and it makes a person wonder is it done as a punishment to the one who see it. not saying it is but why else do it considering there are other ways? Its also crazy for someone to try and save them in an instance like this and if he survived hed be in severe pain for a long time if not for good.

I agree with both of you...but this man tapped the window to draw attention to himself and make sure of his audience, then killed himself in the most dramatic and visually horrific way possible...
THAT is a terrible vengeance...
But the neighbours and their children were probably just collateral damage in the course of it...
The stuff of nightmares.

Indeed whatever his mind set was be it punishment of ex or just pure despair it was a brutal thing to witness for everyone, particularly the children. Imagine how helpless the people who tired to save him must have felt its an image they will never be able to erase from their minds.
This poor guy must have been in a very dark place in his mind to do what he did I am sure a very painful death for him but a lifetime of nightmares for all who were witness to it,who knows what long term damage they have suffered as a result.
